Eastern North Carolina waters have never been far. Shavonne grew up in Grifton, on the beloved Contentnea Creek. Now, with her husband, Javon, she owns and operates Riverside Recreation in Greenville. Riverside rents kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, and offers tour pick-up services, private instruction, camps, and classes.
The company is as much a calling as a business, because Shavonne knows: The water calls to all ages, all socio-economic levels, and all abilities. Answering the call can be life-changing.
